Australian Antarctic Territory Series
The fifth release from The Perth Mint's popular Australian Antarctic Territory Series depicts a Humpback Whale. Journeying each year between Antarctic waters and favoured mating grounds inside the Great Barrier Reef and near the Kimberley coast, Humpbacks are an awe-inspiring sight.

Coloured Reverse Design
The central design, which appears within the outline of Antarctica, depicts a Humpback Whale and an icy landscape. As well as the inscription HUMPBACK WHALE : 2008, the reverse includes the words ‘Australian Antarctic Territory’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Each coin is housed in a blue-coloured presentation case, which comes within a stylish outer shipper.
