Landmarks Silver Series
Discover Australia is a magnificent collector coin program from the historic Perth Mint. Scheduled for release between 2006 and 2008, the program comprises pure gold, silver and platinum proof coins depicting Australia's amazing fauna, flora and landmarks.
Proof Quality 99.9% Pure Silver
This 2007-dated coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
Landmarks Theme - Port Arthur
The coin’s reverse portrays Port Arthur, Tasmania's notorious 19th century penal colony. Situated on Tasman Peninsula, south-east of Hobart, and accessible only by crossing the narrow Eaglehawk Neck, this harsh environment was home to 12,500 convicts between 1830 and 1877.
Coloured Reverse Design
The reverse portrays the ruins of Government Cottage and the Church at Port Arthur in colour. The year-date and The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin depicts Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.
Uniquely Australian Packaging
Each coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian sheoak timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australia's distinctive logo.
Numbered Certificate of Authenticity
Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Limited Mintage
The Perth Mint will release no more than 7,500 of these coins worldwide.
