Stamp and Coin Cover
The Perth Mint has struck a 30mm aluminium bronze coin for inclusion in Australia Post’s 2009 Year of the Ox Stamp and Coin Cover.
Year of the Ox Reverse Design
The coin depicts an ox and calf in a reverse design that also incorporates the Chinese character for ‘ox’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the 50c coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Australia Post Commemorative Stamps
The card-mounted coin fits inside a colourfully illustrated envelope featuring a $1.65 and a 55c stamp from Australia Post’s popular Christmas Island Lunar New Year Series. Both stamps, which bear designs based on the Chinese character for ‘ox’, are postmarked 8 January 2009, the day this Stamp and Coin Cover is released.
